MUSIC NEWS: Columbia/Epic Records Feels "Vindicated" by Sales of "4" So Far

Ron StringerColumbia/Epic Label Group's Chairman, exclaimed that the label is nothing but thrilled by the way the album has performed so far. In fact, he calls the sales "vindication" against those who said she was poised to fail. He explains:

"All the speculation that gets around is frustrating when it's just not true. The story about us being unhappy with the record and stuff is just not true. There's never been any doubt or conversations about moving the record or changing it… Those conversations never existed. We're really, really happy with it … We thought the record is great from the beginning, and some of the stuff that is happening now is vindication of it."

I'm not surprised. Bey and her team have built a fantastic foundation and it would be stupid of record execs to speak out against that. This is especially true when your artist has a new album and is well on her way to becoming an icon. Am I biased as a fan? Maybe. Although her album sales are not where her last album was, I think the record is fabulous. Whatever they lost in album sales, they will more than make up for it in concert ticket sales and Bey 'nalia. It took me a few times to get into it but I had to give myself an opportunity to sit and listen to the music. I went into it expecting to hear songs like Single Ladies and it is NOT that kind of album. 4 is not a CD of club bangers. You have to sit down and actually listen to it. All of her songs are a fair representation of how she has grown as an artist.

Aside from people who are hell bent on hating everything Beyonce, 4 is a wonderful creation. Bey says her goal was "to make music and not just make radio songs." Save for one too many remixes of Run the World (Girls), 4 is a great album.

She says she took time off to grow as a person and to take in all of her success. Her voice is notably more powerful now and she sounds more soulful than she did in her days as Sasha Fierce. Can you tell I love it? Sue me. You will lose. She has become a woman unafraid to share that she is madly in love with her husband. It is refreshing to see this is from a woman who is so private about her love life that she had a secret wedding and doesn't regularly wear a wedding band.

In case you missed how she SHUT DOWN Central Park this morning for the GMA Summer Concert Series, check out footage of her performing her single Run the World

After her performance she sat down for an interview with Robyn Roberts.

**UPDATE: "4" sold over 313,000 units in the first week pushing it to the number 1 album in the country***
