Ratchet Song of the Day...Uncle Luke vs. French Montana

Its a ratchet song battle today. Hip-hop is not original anymore y'all. We all just gotta accept that and be happy with what we're getting. We can't protest artists because all DJs are playing the same songs. First Drake tampered with Juve's Back that Ass Up and now this. That French Montana guy just turned Uncle Luke's vocals from the intro to I Wanna Rock into a sample song called Pop That. He enlisted the help of Weezy Drake, Rick Ross and maybe some other people. I don't like French Montana. You know who I DO like? Uncle Luke. You may not understand if you've never been around when Uncle Luke walked into a Miami strip club. Don't judge me cuz you're not out living YOUR life. Just know Luke and the 2Live Crew changed the game. They were ratchet and vulgar before it was ok to be so. Everyone should experience that at least once in their lifetime.
WARNING: Both songs have a NSFW label!
So here is the original song.

That song is 4:39 of classic southern music.

Here is the remake.

The nerve of these young cats. BTW, for those who don't know "Molly" is a codeword for the ecstasy powder. Its a trend now for people to open the ecstasy pills. Thats what I heard.

Save your judgment. Which version is better?

#ThatAwkwardMomentWhen. . .

You Realize Your Friend Been Frontin on Social Media. A few weeks ago I met a friend of mye friend. They were friends in high school and had just started hanging out together again. For those of you doing the math it means she wasn't my friend but I had an obligation to be nice and cordial to her because of our mutual friend. Its because she is so far removed from MY circle that I can write this sans a guilty conscience.

That night we all went out to eat and before I got home I had a new Facebook friend request from her. Don't you love those types? I accepted her request and did what everyone else does: sifted thru her pics. What did I see? Gucci this and Michael Kors that. All the labels hood chicks love to show off. Stay away from Tory Burch. No matter what she claimed the photo was showing off, she always found a way to show off her labels. Oh, but it ain't trickin if you got it. My "frontin" radar was goin crazy. I found myself wondering if she lived in income restricted housing LOL! My thoughts are evil. Don't let me corrupt you. She took pics of her food at fancy restaurants and changed her profile pic way too often to have a real life. She is 29. Oh yea, I judged her. To be fair, 29 IS the last year you get a pass.

Looking at those pics of her "luxury life" (no really an album was called that) all I could think about was how she stiffed the waiter on the tip and complained about her half eaten pasta just so she didn't have to pay for it. She claimed it was nasty but Raine Lali Gabrielle always peeps game. Word was she knew all week about that dinner and I was the only last minute invite. All of that notice and she arrived saying, "Oh I'm not that hungry imma just order an appetizer and see how I feel." She was husky and sizey (big & tall) tho so I refused to believe she could ever NOT be "that hungry." You don't get husky eatin appetizers. She struck me immediately as one of those people who will try to get outta payin the bill. For those thinkin I'm a harsh ass hater, she tried to get the appetizer taken off after she ate it. This really happened. She then ordered pasta and complained about it to the manager when someone else had the same pasta & said it was fine. You could tell her emphasis was on eliminating the bill and not on her meal.

This is why waiters hate black people but I'm chillin on that point. We were all embarrassed, but no one spoke of it. I didn't think it was my place to check her and when no one said anything I took that to mean this was normal behavior for her. On top of that she had a list of reasons why she refused to tip our waiter. The rest of us "tipped for the race" and called it a night. Why would she come out to eat if she couldn't afford an entree and tip?

She was not my friend (had to say that again), but she is the first social media fronter I met in real life. You never forget your first time. If you judged her by her Facebook life you would think she really had it together. You would think you could go out to eat with her and she could afford to pay her bill. You would think she tipped at least 18% even if the service was terrible. You would think her college experience would have taught her about tact and couth. Her Facebook life was not her real life tho. I giggled everytime I saw her postin pics with a Neiman Marcus bag on her arm. I should note she had that 47in 1080p TV tho. Thats relevant.

Just like a true woman, I used the perils of another woman to make my point. Its what we do.

Understand there are different types of fronters. Your experience may not be like mine. Your experience may have involved someone who is a club fronter-they post pics of themselves in VIP w/bottles but they never have money to buy their own. Your experience may involve someone who is a school fronter-they're financially stable as long as those financial aid checks are rolling in. Buying bottles with Auntie Sallie Mae's money. Your experience may even be with a job fronter-someone who acts like a bawse but they can't pull strings to get you an interview OR someone who claims they're so busy because of work to make themselves seem more in demand. Still, there are relationship fronters-people who post EVERYDAY about how "happy" they are and give others advice when their relationship is shot to shit.

There aint no future in ya frontin. We're all at an age where we are in limbo with our careers, family decisions, etc. Its ok to feel insecure about it. Don't lose yourself trying to live a life you can't afford just so you can impress people who don't give a shit. Que Sera, Sera.

Do y'all know any fronters? Have you had any bad experiences with social media fronters? Y'all wanna talk about black people & tipping at restaurants or nah?

Ratchet Song of the Day-Webbie's "Gutta B*tch"

Just in time for a lunch break twerk. Today's ratchet track is brought to you by southern fish fry parties, rhinestone covered watches from the mall kiosks and custom nameplates. I'm no stranger to the rapping talents of Webbie. Mattafack, Savage Life 1 got me through many college road trips. Its a classic hood album and I'm a wee bit ratchet. Listen with me.

For those who don't know, Gutta Bitch is an ode to women everywhere who fill the role of the side chick. Ghetto translation: the side chick is the "mistress" in the hood.  She is not the wife or girlfriend but she still serves a purpose. Like rain gutters on a nice house, she does not fill a primary role but she has a very specific purpose. She is always ready to hold her man down and willing to ride and/or die for the man she shares with another woman. For him she will fight, stash drugs, do a bid and let him tweet from her page.

Is this the point where I'm supposed to say "Free Boosie?"

Guest Blogger: The THREE F's Explained

For those who haven't been following me, Talented Generation is my third go-round with blogging. 3rd times the charm right? Anyway, back when I shared a blog with my homies I asked my good friend Kool Kustomer to share a few words from a male's perspective. He doesn't need anymore introduction than that.

the letter f Pictures, Images and Photos
The formula: Feed Me + Freak Me + Leave Me The Freak Leave = A Happy man
I keep up with this blog and agree with most of the subject matters posed by the contributors. Yea, some men use women for just the sex, while running game, and dangling the carrot of the casual hook situation leading to a relationship.
True. Some men don’t like to confirm relationships and prefer to keep women in the quagmire of the “Untitled Relationship.”
Yea, some men exploit the young, the old and the wayward of woman but avoid the strong, independent and successful sister that will challenge him and potentially elevate him to be who God intended him to be. No doubt.
But I find with age, some men develop and begin to want lasting relationships with women beyond the “Casual Hook Situation” or “Untitled Relationship.” Especially if the man finds “A Woman” (See my last post for a detailed description of “A Woman”).
I will admit that there are some men who despite age and upper nobility decide that they want nothing more than a “Casual Hook-Up Situation” or “Untitled Relationship.” That’s a fact. Each man has to determine for himself the type of destiny he wants and honestly, I don’t feel remorse for a woman who is continuously burned by this type of man. Humans are designed by nature to adapt.
Now say the woman learns from her past experiences and is now able to identify a man who has moved beyond the days of “Casual Hook-Ups” and “Untitled Relationships.” The man and the woman are now in a position to have something real.  What does she now need to know about men to help make the relationship thrive?
From reading past entries on this blog, I started getting the impression that men are complex like Trigonometry or Physics. The fact of the matter is we are more like addition and biology. If you don’t believe me ask your Grandmother, Mother, Aunt or Grandaunt what formula she uses to keep her man. I guarantee you the formula is the same across the board. (Note: If none of the women in your family have been able to keep a man, please save your time and ask a neighbor.)
Have you asked yet? I’ll give you some time. ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….……………………………………………………………………..
…Okay, I’ll let you in on the secret. The formula is Feed ‘Em, Freak ‘Em and Leave ‘Em the Freak Alone. That equals a happy man. Simple enough, huh?
Well, let me explain what goes wrong.
Feed ‘Em
I know what you are thinking… It’s 2012 not 1950, right? Chances are, professionally you are just as successful as your mate, if not more successful than your mate.
…And you say, “I still have to cook?”
My reply is, “Have you ever heard the old adage?
It goes something like "the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.”
You are seeking entry into his heart right? Well, I’ll answer your question with a question. Do you have to cook?
By no means am I telling you to cook for a sorry joker who isn’t serious about a relationship. Doing special things for this guy won’t help your cause at all. It will only cause your self esteem to plummet to levels lower than the current Dow Jones. Going on.
Freak ‘Em
Again, Don’t waste your good tricks on a guy that isn’t serious about you. Save them for the guy who has demonstrated to you that he is playing for keeps. Freaking ‘Em includes sex but isn’t limited to sex. Freaking ‘Em also includes intimacy or the shoulder rub, the dandruff scratch, the twisted dreads, and the kind-reassuring words a woman can say to make a man feel like a champ.
This fails when a woman withholds affection. No man will deal with an icy woman.
Leave ‘Em the Freak Alone
Lastly but most importantly, if women become good at nothing else, be good at knowing when to leave a man alone. Know when to cut the venting short. Know when to drop a sensitive subject. Know how to chill when the game is on. Leaving a man alone also includes creating and maintaining the inviting/approachable/calm/cool/agreeable atmosphere. The type of atmosphere a man wants to be in.
When a woman nags or rides a man the relationship will never work. If you’re a nag...Please. Stop. Now.
What do you think of the 3F’s? What are some of the things a man has to do for woman to be happy in a relationship? Your comments are appreciated.

Love & Hip Hop Atlanta: Episode 6 Recap

Y'all know what it is! Its Monday so that means its Love & Ratchetlanta time.

I'm not sure whats gonna go down in this episode but it looks like we're gonna get to see Keyshia Cole 2.0's first video and Francine aka Buckeey aka Shay is gonna cement herself as more than a guest star. Lets get this party started.
8:03pm Viewers have the pleasure of witnessing Hoesaylina's photoshoot. Holy shit she's wearing a lime green tutu!! She's about 3 years behind on the tutu trend. Anyone wearing a tutu today over the age of 7 is a basic bitch. Stevie questions her about texting Mimi and she admits texting her threats in response to how Mimi has treated her. Stevie finally checks her about her behavior and says she's disrespecting his family. That shirt he's wearing is clean doe. He looks like a walking Independence Day celebration.
8:05pm  They still wanna call this heffa Shay. Her name is Buckeey dammit!! Anyway, she's meeting with Momma Dee and shares that she and Scrap have decided to be more than friends. Buckeey is concerned about getting hurt. Nobody cares. Lowkey, she's more concerned with getting camera time tho. She looks like Francine from Arthur. Francine's wig looks horrible. I'm pretty sure that wig makes her head sweat. Mama Dee is too old to be this petty. I'm glad she's not my mom.

8:08pm Oooh remember the 808s and Heartbreaks album? Karlie and Mimikins meet up to clear the air. I'm pretty sure they used to hustle nigs together and Karlie is hurt because Mimi left the game before her. Yo Mimi is a lil scary ass trick. She talked all that crap behind Karlie's back and now she's tryna distance herself from it. It doesn't take long for Karlie to go back to being her messy self. She is too old for this siht. She's giving me a Lynn Whitfield from "Thin Line Between Love & Hate" vibe.

8:15pm Damn that was a long ass commercial break. KC 2.0 and Karlie meet up to see how much more camera time they can squeeze out of their "beef." Karlie is in the middle of a photoshoot. The script writers suck man. Why is KC 2.0 fanning when they're inside? Its too hot in Atlanta for them to be somewhere that doesn't have the inside dew. Karlie tries to convince KC 2.0 that she's classy and not messy. We don't believe it gworl.  As KC 2.0 leaves she tells Karlie "I like your pink dress" and I bout rolled off the couch.

8:17pm Joseline is in her apt with one of her friends who decided to wear a headscarf on camera. Home girl looks like a hood ass chiquita banana. Joseline has a tattoo that says "maneater." There is so much material in that alone. Joseline is a boss bitch tho. She's not letting Stevie run circles around her the way he does Mimi. I can respect that. I can't respect this babyhair wig and these brown lips tho. Jose drops the bomb that she's been recruiting producers behind Steebie J's back.
8:19pm We're about to see Rasheeda's "Marry Me" video. I watched it yesterday. If y'all haven't seen it you're not missing anything. They're doing a launch party to an empty crowd. Gworl you so successful. Rasheeda is wearing hoops with lip charms. At least we can tell she tried to be cute.Y'all shol got it together.
8:25pm Scrap wants to work things out with Erica. Thats a lie. He wants things to be cordial between them so she can take it easy on the child support. They're in Erica's apartment, which looks empty. Is she moving? Scrap is about to ask Erica to look out for him on the child support tip. He doesn't want to be with her but he doesn't want to be forced to support his child. I'm not sure why he's wearing a bubble vest. Erica just needs to accept all she is is the baby mama and thats all she will ever be. Scrappy is broke and he's still tryna live that hip-hop royalty life. Erica is putting him on blast and I'm enjoying it. Too many people try to live beyond their means and Lil Scrappy's washed up ass is one of em. We get to see the other side of hip-hop: nigs who pop bottles but don't take care of their kids.

8:29pm We're at Benzino's crib and he's having dinner with Karlie. This ninja made dinner and Karlie is ready to drop her panties off the strength of a one course meal and some garlic bread. Girl bye. Basic hoes are so impressed by a ninja who can repeat the same question they just asked in a different way. I can't get over how basic this is. After one convo & some beef stir fry she's ready to start dating Benzino. Benfuckingzino!!! They kiss an ol nasty passionate kiss. They bout to get it in. You don't kiss like that and walk away.

8:32pm My eyes are still burning after watchin that kiss. Rasheeda is at lunch with KC 2.0 discussing her launch party fail. Rasheeda thinks management is the problem so she is seeking outside management. Rasheeda does not have a chance at having a career. I just needed to throw that out there. Rasheeda's marriage is on the rocks because her husband Kirk is her manager and her career is in the sewer.  KC 2.0 says she would hate for Rasheeda to ruin her marriage for the sake of an industry that doesn't love her back. I'd say she's right.

8:39pm Rasheeda is meeting with Deb Antney aka Waka Flocka and Gucci Mane's manager. Also worth noting is that she managed Nicki Minaj in the beginning stages of her career. I hope ya'll can see auntie Deb's hair. Its feathered like the wings of an eagle. Auntie Deb is an American icon. Y'all need to pay homage. Deb explains to Rasheeda how she could have been "Georgia's Peach." I don't want to think of her as a Georgia Peach. I like Georgia Peaches.
8:42pm Stevie J meets up with Benzino. I just noticed Ol Zino's neck has merged with his head and shoulders. They all look like one body part. Zino tells how he woo'd Karlie out of her panties. The "couple" is not wasting any time as they have plans to meet each other's families. They have their eyes on a spin-off. Stevie J throws shade on Karlie and tells Zino about the drama she caused. Stevie says he will never lose Mimi even if he gets deterred by Halle Berry or Janet Jackson. He says all he needs to do is get Mimi alone. He knows he has Mimi dickmatized. Can't be mad at him.

8:48pm  Erica is meeting her mom, Mingnon, to talk about her struggles with Scrap. Mingnon's hairstyle is finally in the 2000s. She's catching up. Erica tells how she's been asking Scrappy for money but he hasn't been stepping up. Mama lays down the law and tells Erica she will not be taking Scrappy off of child support.

8:50pm Kirk and Rasheeda are at home discussing their professional relationship. Rasheeda breaks the news that she met with another manager. Kirk is hurt. He has been down with her since day 1 and he is not happy. I hope he doesn't cry but I kinda wanna see him cry. Rasheeda is hard headed. She's tired of being a local celebrity and she wants more. She's tryna be the next Nicki Minaj. It aint hap'nin. Rasheeda starts crying and Kirk doesn't skip a beat. I get the feeling she cries a lot. I mean Beyonce had to fire her daddy so its logical that Rasheeda would wanna fire her husband.
8:57pm Mimikins meets up with Joseline. A chick sent me a message on Facebook about the guy I was dating once. I wasn't as calm as Mimi and it didn't end well for her. Joseline apologizes for sending the text messages. Joseline says she could overhear Mimi talkin shit about her when she calls Stevie and she's around. Mimi grows balls and tells Joseline a few words. I salute Joseline for tryna get out in front of this situation. She apologized on some grown woman steez but Mimi doesn't believe her. I don't blame Mimi for not trusting her. Why are you tryna be nice to be though? Thats why I don't trust these hoes.

On the next episode we see Stevie J & Mimi's drama continue to unfold, Rasheeda and Kirk's marriage is still on the rocks, Lil Scrappy & Buckeey deal with the child support issue and Benzino gives Karlie a key. I'll be tuned in!!

Flo Rida is STILL performing & Ratchet Links

Flo-Rida and his coontastic mic performed last night at the Teen Choice Awards. He looks like an extra from Homeboys in Outerspace but I'm chillin.

WSHH- Rasheeda (of LAHHATL & supa local shows) dropped the video for her song "Marry Me." I'm tone deaf and I couldn't get thru the whole video.

Ratchet Song of the Day-Juvenile's "Back that A$$ Up"

This song mannnnn.
This song!
Clawd hammercy.
This song!
This song is magical.
Its special beyond words.
This song will hyp-na-tize ya *Biggie voice*
Go ahead, turn the volume down a few notches and twerk a lil somethin at your desk. Listen with me.

The scene at the clubs when this song comes on is ALWAYS bananas. That violin drops at the beginning of the beat and all of a sudden the playing field is leveled. Girls with and without degrees are competing and big booty girls have all the advantages. Every woman who hears this song goes ratchet immediately. The fellas enjoy the show and since everybody gets ratchet no one can judge. You might even hear a collective "oooh thats my song!" DJs save this joint for when they really wanna crank it up. Remember, after you back it up then drop that is when you drop it like its hot.

Shame on Drake for touchin this classic.

For 80s Babies: The 7 C's of People Too Old For The Club Scene

80's babies are the next generation to be too old for clubs.
Oh, you're an 80's baby and that doesn't apply to you? Cool story bro!
A few months ago, I went out on a Saturday night. The crowd was "21 & over." For the sake of preserving his anonymity we're gonna call my accomplice "Pepper." Pepper and I were in the same area lookin for a good time so we met up at a club to help some random girl celebrate her birthday. I even "checked-in" on Facebook cuz we're cool 80's babies. We got our drinks and got a few dances in before we both ended up just people watching. My feet started to hurt so I made myself comfy in one of the only seats available. I sat for more time than I danced. Everyone around us is dancing and tryna get chose while Pepper and I had the point-and-laugh session of a lifetime. There was no shortage of big girls twerkin' too hard, old men tryna push up on young girls and pretty girls who didn't wanna sweat their hair out.
We were having a blast.
Then it happened.
It happened and we were caught off guard.
The DJ got on the mic and said  "Whoooaaaa time just went back! Y'all get an extra hour to party!" The whole club erupted with ratchet celebration. They got an extra hour to be ratchet for no extra charge. Pepper and I looked at each other with shock on our faces and we signaled to each other that it was time for us to tap out. It was the 1st time I left a club before it closed without a plan to go to another spot. I felt old. Not only was I past my prime, but I felt it. My ears were ringing, my feet hurt and a headache was starting to set in. I acknowledged that I was outgrowing the club scene and Pepper felt the same way. We left the club smelling like defeat and oldassness.

I had a repeat of that night this past Saturday when I hung out with my younger cousin who happens to still be in his glory days of undergrad. We started partying around 4pm and we were out until 4am. LISTEN. He had several parties lined up. I wanted to take nap at 8pm. He did not understand my struggle. On Sunday, he's up and ready to go while I'm struggling to remember where I laid my keys. I went thru the whole day feeling tired. I was so tired I left my phone somewhere and I didn't have enough energy to panic about it. I said "I'll look for that MF after I take a nap."

Before you judge me and think I'm alone in this, here are some signs your ass is ALSO too old for night clubs
1. You Complain. The club scene is the same beast it has always been, but now everything about it irritates you: All DJs play the same music. It's too dark. The women are dressed like hoes. People are smoking. The drinks are too expensive. There are too many people in there. They were sold out of tables. There aren't enough seats. You had to drive around more than once to find a park. The DJ doesn't play enough songs from the late 90s and early 2000s. You keep seeing the same people every time you go out. Give it up boo.
2. You Calculate. You are too old for the club if you have ever found yourself on the dance floor tryna calculate. You gotta go to work the next day so you're like "If I leave now I can get at least 5 hours of sleep." You don't go "hard" because you don't wanna be tired the next day. Nah potna just take your old ass home LOL!

3. You Contemplate. After you get there you see a line and you say, "Damn look at that line. Its bout to be a lot of people in there. Ain't no tellin' what could happen. Imma just go home." This is a sign of oldassness. Why? Because when you were 18 and clubbin' you used to stand in line for college night religiously. You used to sneak into clubs. You didn't worry about hoodlums. Self preservation took a back seat to partying with friends. It could have been raining, snowing, hailing, and the bouncer was being a bitch about letting the line move but you NEVER turned around.
4. You Have to be Convinced. You used to go out just for the sake of going out, but now you gotta have a purpose. You start thinkin' about all the trouble you gotta go thru: Parking, cover charge, lines, thirsty singles, etc. You're the person who stays home unless it is someone's birthday or going away party. You say you're over the nightclub scene but really you can't hang. You would rather sit at home with some friends and play Taboo. Old ass.

5. You Catnap. Back in your heyday you used to go out to a club at a moments notice. Someone could come to you at 11pm and say "let's go out" and you would go without a problem. They could wait outside while you got dressed. Now you have to decide you're going out early in the day so you can prepare. You gotta squeeze in time for a catnap and prepare yourself mentally.

6. You're a Smart Consumer. Back in your glory days you had "work" clothes and "party" clothes. You kept the two separate. You can't waste money like that anymore. You got bills to pay. Now you shop for things that can serve a double purpose. Ladies think about dresses we can pair with a blazer to make it work appropriate while the fellas buy button downs in work appropriate colors.
7. You Can't Bounce Back. Even when your mind thinks you can party like you used to, your body will show your ass the truth. You went out and partied from 10pm to 1am and your ass is exhausted the next day. The next day is entirely unproductive. Fuck sunglasses and Advil you're just not gonna leave the house. You start thinkin' about the times when you could party like crazy and still make it to class. Back in college I used to be able to go out from 11pm-4:30am then shower and make it to work from 5:30-2pm and class from 4-9:45pm. I could do this about 3-4 nights a week and my GPA stayed above 3.5. I barely got any sleep but I was on the scene when it counted. Those were my glory days.  *sigh*

So if you are an 80's baby and you find yourself feeling like the club scene is no longer for you don't be alarmed. You are officially an "old head." Embrace it. There are lounges, happy hours and private birthday parties in suites at the W for you to enjoy. Give it up while you still have your dignity. Let the youngins have their fun. Don't be that old cat in the club tryna show you "still got it." You don't got it.
