I also want to honor the single women who are playing both the role of the mother and father. Your struggle does not go unrecognized and your strength is admirable. Continue to raise your children to the best of your ability but do not be afraid to reach out to outstanding men in your community for help with role modeling your sons.
To all of the men without children please consider becoming a mentor or Big Brother to youth who would otherwise grow up without a father figure. The significance of Father's is one of the most important relationships a child can have and I praise all of you for being great men.
To all of the men who have chosen not to take care of their fatherhood responsibilities, it is never too late to forge a relationship with your child. You don't have to be perfect but you should at least be emotionally and physically available to them.
Speaking of fathers, The National Fatherhood Initiative (NFI) has named Dwyane Wade a recipient of a 2011 Fatherhood Award™ for his dedication to his two sons.
“This Fatherhood Award™ reflects Dwyane’s commitment to being the kind of dad his sons need him to be. He gives dads everywhere a great example of what it means to be an involved, responsible, and committed father,” Roland C. Warren, president of NFI said.
Wade, who was also the 2010 All-Star MVP D-Wade, responded:
“I am so thrilled to be given this award, especially because it is in recognition of most important thing in my life, my kids. Nothing in the world compares to the happiness that they bring me each and every day.”
“I know that my biggest responsibility is to be there for them 100% and to demonstrate to other fathers that it is possible to be a strong male figure in your children’s lives regardless of what else is going on in your life.”
Congrats to Wade! Mark my words, Miami Heat will be NBA Champs in 2012!
Spread Love!
