BECAUSE YOU CARE: How Chad Johnson Proposed to Evelyn Lozada

Given her recent rise to fame as the President of the "You aint bout this life" coalition on VH1's Basketball Wives, Evelyn Lozada has been open about her life and her past. Still, the couger-aged reality vixen managed to remain pretty tight lipped about how Chad actually proposed to her. I'll give you a hint, he didn't go all out. Back up, he didn't even go "out." She recently let the cat out of the bag during a radio show interview. The host asked her how Chad proposed and she responded,

"I wish I had a really romantic story to tell you, but it's not so romantic. A jeweler came to the house, had a few rings, he had my ring in a separate box. I, of course, chose that one. [Chad] had a headset on and he was like, ‘You like it?' and I was like, 'Yep' and I put it on and he goes, 'Okay cool,' and he started playing Call of Duty."

Oh, thats why Call of Duty has a pause button!

So there you have it. He didn't go all out. He didn't assemble their friends and family.  He didn't get down on one knee. He didn't give a sappy speech. He didn't make a whole song and dance video. He simply got her the ring and asked her if she likes it. Perhaps its a testament to his laid back personality or a sign of things to come. *shrug*

Ya'll didn't ask me but even though I think the whole thing is a sham I'm ok with the fact that they both seem ok with where their relationship is going.  Thats all that matters. Nevermind the doubters and haters, if Chad chose to marry the woman who decided to sleep with him after the first date who the hell am I to judge? According to Chad, the two met on twitter. Double win. Evelyn has been open about her decision to sleep with Chad on their first date and look ladies she still got her ring. Do you boo boo. *Evelyn voice*

Anywho, I'm too busy tryna get this pay-pah to spend time tryna analyze someone else's relationship. The two are set to wed somewhere sometime next week. Last time I cared to click a link about their relationship I read no venue in Miami was willing to host their wedding. Wompity womp.

Lozada claims she's not sure whether she will return to BBW next season. Guess she's waiting to see those ratings from her spinoff. Make that money honey, don't let it make you.

Movie News: Lesson Before Love

While the media continues to spend time attacking black love, African American directors like Dui Jarrod are using their resources to spotlight the positive things about it. In his first feature film, Lesson Before Love Jarrod explores the journey single people go through on their quest to find "the one."

Shot and cast in Atlanta, the movie is about four single people who meet online and then meet up face to face for a night on the town.  Their interactions send them on a journey of self discovery.  They must learn to love who they are in order to find the love they want.

Check the trailer below:

Lesson Before Love screened in New York's Brooklyn Campus of Long Island University on Friday June 29th and opened to good reviews. The stars of the film are all newcomers: Kenneth Brown, Jr., Shamea Morton, Peyton Coles, and Reece Odum.

The creators of the movie are working behind the scenes to get the film released in select markets across the US. Keep your eyes open for this fabulous flick! In the mean time, check out their interactive website here.

Love it!!!

Morning Inspiration

GREAT morning folks! Happy Labor Day to all of my hard working folks out there! I hope you all have the opportunity to enjoy your holiday weekend. If you're going to any cookouts/bbqs be sure to take a look at my cookout rules before you leave. Here is today's quote:

Love is that condition in the human spirit so profound that it allows me to survive, and better than that, to thrive with passion, compassion, and style. -Maya Angelou
Today is a celebration of love, more specifically BLACK LOVE! I had the honor of serving as a bridesmaid in a wedding this past weekend and it was a BEAUTIFUL celebration of black love. In fact, I was running errands for the wedding since last Thursday and that kept me from having the time to sit down and write Friday's posts. Don't mistake my words for complaints, I am so glad to have had the experience and there aren't many things in the world I would trade the memories for. My hope is for all of you, and for myself, to find the person who complements us so well that we cannot imagine spending another minute of our lives without them.

As far as examples of strong black love goes we all know about Barack and Michelle, Will and Jada and most of us know about Beyonce and Jay-Z. Aside from a few covers of Essence and 1 or 2 stories during Black History Month, I don't think black love is celebrated enough. I believe there should be positive examples of black love displayed on a daily basis.  I'm still on a high from the wedding (and the fabulous night that followed) so I decided to transfer some of my energy to you all. Black love is a special bond between two black people who have fallen so deeply in love with each other that their love serves as an example for others. Black love is misunderstood by those who do not have the pleasure of experiencing it or seeing it up close.  It is one of those things that intrigues outsiders and leaves insiders filled with joy. Like love itself, black love is difficult to reduce to words but you will know it when you see it. It is in the way they gaze at each other when they think no one is watching. It is in the way that he catches her when she is about to fall. It is in the way that she grabs a bread crumb from his beard at dinner. When a black couple is in love, it is BLACK LOVE is one of the most beautiful things I have ever experienced or observed in my lifetime.

Celebrate BLACK LOVE with me by spreading love all day today & going forward =)

Today's Song Choice: Beyonce 1+1

P.S. Congrats Mrs. T-FluTribue and Buzz!! Love you both to millions of tiny pieces! Wishing you both many years of love and happiness together.
