Daily Inspiration

GREAT morning folks! Here is today's quote:

No matter how good or bad you think life is, wake up each day and be thankful for life. Someone somewhere else is fighting to survive. -Unknown

Don't wait until the calendar tells you its time to be thankful before you start to give thanks. Start your own initiative to be grateful and stick to it. Make a promise to yourself such that you never allow a day to go by when you don't acknowledge your blessings. Commit to being grateful for the things you have. Moping about what you don't have doesn't change it so why bother with doing it? Accept that things are not as you would like to be without initiating a self-pity party. If you're honest with yourself, you can acknowledge that you have so many other wonderful things to celebrate. Being humble and thankful will take you far.

I recognize that staying encouraged and being grateful can sometimes feel like a job but  thats life. Life is not perfect and no matter how many people "like" your FB updates proclaiming such, no one has a life absent of trials and tribulations. 2011 may not be panning out the way you planned and thats ok. I'm not asking you to confess your troubles or your triumphs to me or anyone else. I want to empower you to be grateful. Don't waste time focusing on negative things, its time you won't get back.  Take it from me, use your setbacks as motivation to keep pushing. If things don't work out the way you planned, it doesn't mean you failed. The only way you can fail is if you quit.

There is ALWAYS something to be thankful for.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Morning Inspiration

GREAT morning beautiful ladies and handsome gentlemen! Happy HUMP day! We're mid-way through this week and its time to get a little motivation in your system with today's quote:

“Life is all about timing... the unreachable becomes reachable, the unavailable become available, the unattainable... attainable. Have the patience, wait it out. It's all about timing.” -Stacey Charter

Have you ever wanted something so badly you thought you would DIE if you didn't get it? I don't mean lit'rally die, but figuratively. Like you would figuratively die a little inside if you didn't get it. Maybe it was the job you think is perfect. Maybe its the man or woman you think you ought to marry. Maybe its the friendship or network you wanted so eagerly to build. Then, it doesn't work out and you feel a little piece of you slip away. Before you allow yourself to feel that sinking feeling, step back and remind yourself that LIFE is all about timing. On second that, allow yourself to feel that sinking feeling. Relish in it so that you understand what it is like to not get what you want. Allow it to humble you and force you to re-evaluate yourself. That person you thought was so perfect for you but wasn't ready to be in a relationship? Its  not their time. That job you thought you would be the perfect fit for? Its not the perfect time for that either. Develop a level of patience that allows you to wait for when the time is right without always forcing things prematurely. You should continue to give things your all, but if they don't work out remember the 3 forms of time: HIS time, HER time and GOD's time. You wanted thing to work on HIS time or HER time without regard for God's time. Understand that if God has decided it is time for you to receive a blessing, no man or woman can close that door. On the flip side, if you make the mistake of living on HIS or HER time by believing you can FORCE the timing if it is not yet right you are only setting yourself up to be disappointed. Wait on God's time. If you don't believe in God, thats fine too. Although, I'm not sure what the equivalent would be. I guess you should wait on karma's time(??).

GREAT morning beautiful people. I hope you all enjoyed your weekend. Here is today's quote:

“Success seems to be connected with action. Successful people keep moving. They make mistakes, but they don't quit. -Conrad Hilton

No matter what you may be going through or just coming out of, remember there is a purpose for everything. Take a step back and get an honest assessment of what you learned that you may not have known before. Every experience is an opportunity to learn more: about life, about yourself, about other people. If you lost your cool, lost a loved one or even lost hope don't allow that to be the dominating factor of the situation. For every bad thing you have experienced, find something positive. If you lost your cool, take it as an experience that allowed you to discover new things that make you angry. As a human, you are allowed to make mistakes. As a professional, you should expect to learn from your shortcomings and work through them. Failure is not an option. Quitting is not an option. You have to keep pushing if you want to see true progress.

Morning Inspiration

GREAT morning my loves!!! Happy Friday!! Here is today's quote:

“What is the quality of your intent? Certain people have a way of saying things that shake us at the core. Even when the words do not seem harsh or offensive, the impact is shattering. What we could be experiencing is the intent behind the words. When we intend to do good, we do. When we intend to do harm, it happens. What each of us must come to realize is that our intent always comes through. We cannot sugarcoat the feelings in our heart of hearts. The emotion is the energy that motivates. We cannot ignore what we really want to create. We should be honest and do it the way we feel it. What we owe to ourselves and everyone around is to examine the reasons of our true intent. My intent will be evident in the results.” -Thurgood Marshall
I challenge you today to be honest with yourself about the intent behind your actions. Are you really doing things because of what you tell people or are you doing it because it sounds nice? Are you doing things to be hurtful or did it become hurtful by accident? What are you really expecting to get out of what you're doing? You can only fake intent for so long before it shines through. I encourage all of you to be kind in both your actions and in your intent.  Remember its nice to be nice but its only nice if your actions are genuine. Don't force your "nice" and don't pretend to be something you are not. There is no need to be fake because there are people who will love you in spite of your flaws.

GREAT morning beautiful people! Happy Friday! Here is today's quote:

We will always have seasons of struggles and testing. There are times when everything we attempt to do will seem to go wrong. Regardless of our prayers and consecration, adversity will come. We can’t pray away God’s seasons. The Lord has a purpose in not allowing us to be fruitful all the time. These periods destroy our pride in our own ability and reinforce our dependency on the sufficiency of our God. -TD JAKES
The quote above is powerful enough in and of itself. If it didn't affect your spirit, read it again. I chose to share this quote so that I could take the time to encourage you all to share your struggles. We all go through rough times and are made stronger because of them. Through it all hold on to your dignity and continue to fight.  I am not here to tell you everything will get easier because that is not always true. I do want to encourage you all to take everything-good and bad-in stride. Before you question why you are going through something, seek to recognize the purpose for your adversity and learn from it. Step down off of your high horse and open your eyes.

Morning Inspiration

GREAT morning beautiful people!! Happy Hump Day! Here is today's quote:

Let us not be content and wait and see what will happen, but give us the determination to make the right things happen. -Peter Marshall
While no one has a sure-fire formula for becoming successful we all have our own idea about what failure looks like. My idea of failure is to stop working to make things happen. It is very difficult for me to sit and wait. I'm not one to sit around and engage in wishful thinking either. I prefer to put in work so I can enjoy the fruits of my labor when they are ripe. I look at my progress like I am a gardener. I look at my goals/dreams like plants. Just like gardening, success is something you must continue to work at and work towards. You must be sure to water your goals with hard work. You must provide your goals with the proper nutrients. You must give your goals the proper amount of sunlight by allowing them the room to grow. You must monitor your goals and protect them from bad weather. Also important, you must weed your garden. This means at every step of your process, take special care to protect your brand. Eliminate the people who are benefitting from your hard work while making you look bad. People will want to latch on to you because they see you beaming with success but be cautious. Don't be afraid to grab the weed whacker and eliminate them from your circle.

Gardeners don't stop working towards success because he/she has realized his/her goals. They  understand that it is a cycle. Gardeners are not content with this season's harvest. They know that gardening is a continuous process. When you achieve one set of goals, you sow new seeds and embark to accomplish more things.

I pray all of you have the determination to get up, get out and make something happen. Its only right!

GREAT morning beautiful people!! Its motivation MONDAY! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend! It was a beautiful weekend in the DMV and that is ALWAYS a good thing. Here is today's quote:

"Never let go of hope. One day you will see that it all has finally come together. What you have always wished for has finally come to be. You will look back and laugh at what has passed and you will ask yourself...'How did I get through all of that?" -Author Unknown

As young professionals and new grads, our lives are in a state of transition. Things are up in the air and we have to be patient with ourselves. The climb to the top is not easy but I know I will have one hell of a story to tell when I get there. One thing I know I will not allow myself to do is to give up hope.

I'm sure you all have experienced your fair share of adversity and I am here today to tell you to keep pushing. It is NOT ok for you to surrender your hopes and dreams because things got a little rough. I know Mondays can be a little rough when you feel underemployed and unappreciated but don't allow your circumstances to deflate your balloon of hope. Keep your mind focused on the light at the end of the tunnel even if you can't see it yet. You have to trust and believe it is there. You would be doing yourself a disservice if you allowed yourself to let go of the hopes and dreams you have worked so hard to see become a reality.

I work hard and I know all of you do too. Although I can't be 100% sure what motivates you all to keep going, I hope it all pays off for you. My sincere prayer is for all of you to be happy doing what you love to do.

Woot Woot! Its Friday! GREAT morning beautiful people. I don't think you all heard me so I will say it a tad bit louder. I say GREAT MORNING beautiful people! Aren't you happy to be alive? Aren't you happy to have another day to accomplish something great? Aren't you happy to have another opportunity to do something nice for someone other than yourself? Aren't you happy to...gottomighty you get the point. Here is today's quote:

"The greatest trouble with most of us is that our demands upon ourselves are so feeble, the call upon the great within of us so weak and intermittent that it makes no impression upon the creative energies; it lacks the force that transmutes desires into realities." - Orison Swett Marden

I am FRESH off of the heels of the excitement of Fashion's Night Out and I feel good! Forgive me if I overuse smiley and exclamation points today. I am in an AWESOME mood. S/o to the good folks at Neiman Marcus for the freebies and the models for their fabulous looks (many of which I plan to duplicate this fall). Ok thats not what you came here for.

Moving on.

Don't ever settle. I know people say that sh*t a lot but there is a reason the phrase has stuck around for so long. Don't ever settle. Don't ever think about settling. If there is something you want, go after it with all of your might so you can see to it that it becomes a reality. You don't want to be  the next Uncle Rico-past your prime telling everyone who will listen about what could have been if coach had put you in during the 4th quarter. Nobody wants to hear how you think you can throw a football over a mountain.

We're family here right? Good! So I can be honest with ya'll for a minute. Come in a little closer, I don't want everyone in our family business.

Today's word of the day is Reassess. Before you all go off trying to chase your pipe dreams, please understand that I am speaking to reasonable goals. If you have had the same goals since high school and you haven't made progress since you graduated in 2001, it might be time to reassess. Maybe you can make a scaled down version of your dreams come true. I want you all to push yourselves but I don't want you to set yourself up for disappointment. I don't want you all going off at fawty (40) years old trying to train for the olympics. I want you all to push yourselves to become more but I also want you to adjust your dreams accordingly. If you missed the bus to get drafted or to become the next big pop star...reassess.

You only get one chance to play the game of life and I don't want any of you to look back on your life and feel regret. I hope all of you can look back on your life so far and see progress. Aim to become a better person than you were yesterday. Work to become a better daughter, son, sister, brother, cousin and friend. Open up your heart and release love into the atmosphere.

GREAT morning my loves! Happy Hump Day! I hope you are all having a fantabulous week so far! Here is today's quote:

Be courteous to all, but intimate with few, and let those few be well tried before you give them your confidence. -George Washington
One of my favorite songs begins with "Sometimes you have to encourage yourself" and I am reminded of that lesson as I type. Do not be afraid to reach out to others when you are feeling a little discouraged. I am not saying this because I think you should share your personal business, I am saying this because holding in your stress can be detrimental to your health. I say it also because hiding your struggles from those you love can be detrimental to your relationships. Learn to trust your circle enough to know they are there to support you. Trust that they have your best interests in their hearts. You never know the strength you can gather from an encouraging word. When it comes to sharing your feelings with those you love, don't hold back. If you are down, tell them you are down so they can pick you up. If you are in need of a hug, tell them so they can embrace you. If you need someone to vent to, tell them so they can open their ears and their hearts. If you need advice, tell them so they can give you their opinion. Understand that I am not advising you to put your faith in man. I am merely recommending that you reach out to those who love you when you need them the most.  Don't waste the resources in your circle because you want everyone to believe your life is perfect. No one is foolish enough to believe you anyway. You are a human and that means you are innately imperfect. Embrace your imperfections and love yourself unconditionally.

SN: Still, I advise all of you to be careful because if someone has shared the darkest secrets of another with you, they will share your darkest secrets with another.

GREAT morning folks! Happy Labor Day to all of my hard working folks out there! I hope you all have the opportunity to enjoy your holiday weekend. If you're going to any cookouts/bbqs be sure to take a look at my cookout rules before you leave. Here is today's quote:

Love is that condition in the human spirit so profound that it allows me to survive, and better than that, to thrive with passion, compassion, and style. -Maya Angelou
Today is a celebration of love, more specifically BLACK LOVE! I had the honor of serving as a bridesmaid in a wedding this past weekend and it was a BEAUTIFUL celebration of black love. In fact, I was running errands for the wedding since last Thursday and that kept me from having the time to sit down and write Friday's posts. Don't mistake my words for complaints, I am so glad to have had the experience and there aren't many things in the world I would trade the memories for. My hope is for all of you, and for myself, to find the person who complements us so well that we cannot imagine spending another minute of our lives without them.

As far as examples of strong black love goes we all know about Barack and Michelle, Will and Jada and most of us know about Beyonce and Jay-Z. Aside from a few covers of Essence and 1 or 2 stories during Black History Month, I don't think black love is celebrated enough. I believe there should be positive examples of black love displayed on a daily basis.  I'm still on a high from the wedding (and the fabulous night that followed) so I decided to transfer some of my energy to you all. Black love is a special bond between two black people who have fallen so deeply in love with each other that their love serves as an example for others. Black love is misunderstood by those who do not have the pleasure of experiencing it or seeing it up close.  It is one of those things that intrigues outsiders and leaves insiders filled with joy. Like love itself, black love is difficult to reduce to words but you will know it when you see it. It is in the way they gaze at each other when they think no one is watching. It is in the way that he catches her when she is about to fall. It is in the way that she grabs a bread crumb from his beard at dinner. When a black couple is in love, it is BLACK LOVE is one of the most beautiful things I have ever experienced or observed in my lifetime.

Celebrate BLACK LOVE with me by spreading love all day today & going forward =)

Morning Inspiration

GREAT morning my beauties and handsome peeps! I hope you're all enjoying your week thus far! Here is today's quote:
We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures.  ~Thornton Wilder
I have a quick anecdote to share with you all. Yesterday I was on the train and one of the women behind me LAID HANDS on my hair. My hair was neatly tucked into an, admittedly interesting, high bun. On hot days, its my usual 'do. I'm very protective of my personal space and it severely alters my mood when someone intentionally infiltrates my personal space with wanton disregard for how it might make me feel. Those of you who know me personally know how protective I am of my hair. For those of you who do not know me personally, know that I am very protective of my hair. Typically, I am not a germa-phobe but when it comes down to people around MY hair, I get shifty. Anyway, I said that to say this: After addressing the GROWN woman by telling her she should resist putting her hands on a stranger's hair, I exited the train station to see a terrible car accident. The driver appeared to have lost control of her vehicle after getting a flat tire and then crashing into a meter in the metro parking lot. Her entire front end was on the pavement as she consoled her shaken children and held back tears. I quickly whispered a prayer of thanks to God because a few seconds prior I was actually pretty upset.

Always be grateful for what you have. Pay attention to the signs around you that things could always be worse. Sometimes we are allowed to see certain things so that we can be reminded of how GREAT our lives are. Take the time, RIGHT NOW to appreciate who you are and what you have. If you haven't adopted this into your daily routine, the time is NOW to change that. Make time for what matters. Make time to give thanks. If you can show gratitude for what you already have, you will show the laws of attraction, God, etc., that you can handle and you deserve to be blessed with more.

Great Morning beautiful people! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. To those affected by Hurricane irene. My prayers are with you all. Here is today's quote:

"Be patient with yourself. Self-growth is tender; its holy ground. There's no greater investment." --Stephen Covey
One thing I have learned on my journey of self growth is that I have to be patient with myself. I am so used to always being the best at everything that it feels strange to have been thrown into the "training" pile again. Let me just put it out there about where I used to be:
I HATED to make mistakes.
I hated to make mistakes in front of people even more.
I hated not knowing how to do certain things.
I hated not feeling like I have earned my "keep" enough to have an influential say so.
I hated starting over.

I have had to learn NOT to be so hard on myself. Why? Because sleepless nights were starting to show up in photos in the form of bags under my eye. I had to learn to give myself time to grow and learn new procedures and ways of doing things. In the event that you find yourself in the same boat I'm in, remind yourself to be patient. You may be a fast learner but don't knock yourself if you're not the work wiz kid at the end of your first day. Continue to invest in your self growth and allow your mustard seed to grow. Give yourself time to make progress and allow yourself to make mistakes. Don't be afraid of new beginnings, embrace them. Embrace the opportunity to make mistakes. Continue to build up your reputation so that people know you are professional and serious. Don't ever allow yourself to get discouraged! Take time out each day to give yourself praise and focus on what you have accomplished thus far. Stay Strong! You can do whatever it is you set out to do!

Morning Inspiration

GREAT morning beautiful people! A special shoutout to everyone on the East Coast who experienced their first real earthquake yesterday. Sh*t scared you didn't it? Don't deny it. One thing it did do was put things into perspective for me. With that said, here is today's quote:

If you want to test your memory, try to recall what you were worrying about one year ago today.  ~E. Joseph Cossman
A few weeks ago Facebook got the brilliant idea to show you the status you posted a year ago to the date. Most of my statuses were about school and whatnot so it helped me put things into perspective about what I post nowadays. Does it matter that last year I was making flash cards at this time? Does it matter that I posted how awesome my friends are? To me, those things are still relevant because they are part of what has shaped me into the woman I am today. From now on, I will keep that in mind when I decide to post something.

Now for today's message: Always do your best to keep the things that bother you into perspective. Is there anything you can do to change it? Will it matter next year? Will it matter tomorrow? If your answer to any of those questions is NO, my advice is for you to let it go. There is no need to walk around stressing about something you have ZERO control over. If there is anything you can do to mitigate the stress it is causing you, do that and then move on. 3/4 of the things you are stressing about won't matter a few weeks from now so don't allow it to steal your joy today.

GREAT morning beautiful people! TGIF! Feel free to do a lil dance because I know I hit the jive this morning when my alarm clock (and Jesus) woke me up today.

"Finish every day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense."
— Ralph Waldo Emerson

Well I guess you all could say I am officially BACK from my vacay. I did take an extra day off just to recoup from everything taking a week off allows you to do. As you can imagine, adjusting back to my "normal" life was difficult. There is just something about going from a beautiful getaway in a place where I can forget my worries to a back office where I have to answer to people that I can't force myself to look forward to. I don't always dread coming back from vacay, I just always dread coming back from vacay. Seriously, I'm thinking of pitching a show but I won't tell you all my idea because I don't know you like that. Just kidding. Wait, you came here for inspiration didn't ya? I shared my anecdote in order to tell you to forget about the happenings of yesterday and start today anew. In case you didn't catch that, yesterday is a metaphorical reference to anything that happened in the past. You caught that didn't you? I'm proud of you. That argument you and your best friend had on Monday? That happened "yesterday." That disrespectful email you received last year? That happened "yesterday" too. Let all of the bullsh*t go and continue to prosper in your own life. The things those people did to you are there karmic energy to deal with. Just like J Hud sings about in her weight loss commercials, its a new day. Even if you end up doing something you wouldn't prefer to do today, appreciate the blessing of an assignment. Respect that others would like to be in your situation right now by resisting the urge to complain. Begin today and every other day in high spirits and with a mind filled with optimism. End today the same way.

GREAT morning beautiful people! I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend. I know I sure did!
“Don't underestimate the value of Doing Nothing, of just going along, listening to all the things you can't hear, and not bothering.” -Winnie the Pooh

Many of you who have been reading my blog since I started my blogging journey know about my struggle to relinquish control and enjoy taking time off. This past weekend I took a vacay to South Beach and realized how stressed I was living at home. I took time to clear my head and I realized just how much stress I was allowing to rest on my shoulders. To be honest, the biggest reason I was able to take a REAL break and actually relax was because I left my Mac charger and couldn't find my phone charger. I found myself in a beautiful hotel suite with my beautiful friends but I had a dead computer and a dead phone. Essentially, I had no choice but to put on a bikini and sit on the balcony to take in the beautiful sites. The photo above is actually one of the few photos I captured during my wonderful experience. Because of what I realized in the past few days, I am here today to challenge all of you to give yourself a BREAK. If you can afford it, take a day off and take a cruise to nowhere. Heck if you can afford it, take a few days off and go to the Caymen Islands. Sign up for airline price drop alerts and go to a random place where nobody knows your name. Do something you wouldn't normally do and allow yourself to really let  yourself go. I know its only Monday and Mondays are already tough to get thru but I promise you if you do this for yourself it will be a priceless experience. I know you may not care but Beyonce says she took a year off and it wasn't until she finally took time off that she realized how much she managed to accomplish in her career. We may be a few millions short of a Beyonce-type experience but we are still people who work hard and deserve a break. We spend so much time pushing ourselves to be great and I admire that about all of my colleagues but sometimes it is worth it to just drop everything and get away.

Take time to appreciate everything you have and everyone you have. Don't wait until it is about to be taken away from you before you appreciate it.

GREAT MORNING everyone! I hope you all had an amazing weekend. I spent my weekend moving but I'm happy to start a new chapter in my life. Here is today's quote:

“To be mentally sound, you need changes. You cannot do the same thing repeatedly and expect to have different results.”

Today is the first day of the best days of your life. If you are to truly live like it you must begin by changing some of the things you have been doing. If you honestly take an assessment of your habits and learned behaviors, you will notice you have been living a life filled with INSANITY. We all know the definition of insanity right? Doing the same thing repeatedly but expecting to get different results. TERMINATE and ELIMINATE all actions that are holding you back. Gather the strength to let go of everything and pick up EFFECTIVE habits that will help you reach your goal. I hear you asking how to get there. Since I love you I will give you a few tips: You must first start by exerting power over your circumstances. Finish strong by persistently overcoming hardships. Power is the KEY to mental strength. You must first become powerful in your individual self before you can become a force for the rest of the world to reckon with. ATTACH yourself to your definition success and never let go!

Morning Inspiration

GREAT morning beautiful people!!!
Today's quote is in the form of an inspirational poem called It Couldn't Be Done by Edgar A. Guest:

Somebody said that it couldn't be done,
But he with a chuckle replied
That "maybe it couldn't," but he would be one
Who wouldn't say so till he'd tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn't be done, and he did it.
Somebody scoffed: "Oh, you'll never do that;
At least no one ever has done it";
But he took off his coat and he took off his hat,
And the first thing we knew he'd begun it.
With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin,
Without any doubting or quiddit,
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn't be done, and he did it.
There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done,
There are thousands to prophesy failure;
There are thousands to point out to you, one by one,
The dangers that wait to assail you.
But just buckle in with a bit of a grin,
Just take off your coat and go to it;
Just start to sing as you tackle the thing
That "cannot be done," and you'll do it.

Let it marinate a bit and remember to disappoint all the people who may tell you what you aim to accomplish cannot be done!

GREAT morning!!! Happy Hump Day!! Did you miss me yesterday? I missed you all. Let's hope we can make up for lost time. Here is today's quote:

"What you dislike in another take care to correct in yourself." -Thomas Sprat

So you're the man in the mirror, eh?
Over time I have noticed people are quick to judge others but slow to reflect on their own actions. Judging others is easy, facing your own demons is a challenge. Its easy to try to set yourself apart from reckless and wanton folks while proclaiming the different ways the two of you are different. Its easy to judge another woman who has "loose" tendencies once you forget about the times in undergrad when you had those 1 night stands. Its easy to judge another man who can't seem to find a woman if you forget how you tricked convinced your spouse you're "the one" even though she was WAY out of your league.

Before you pass strict judgment on another, take the time to look within yourself. If you can understand what irritates you about others, you will learn a little bit more about yourself.

While we are on this subject, do you know grinds my gears? When people on Twitter complain about their follows/followers being self-centered or too full of themselves. Its like the pot callin' the kettle except with narcissism. It bothers me because the very foundation of the twitta is that people are so vain and self-absorbed that they believe people would want to read their thoughts in 140 characters or less. People amass hundreds of followers who witness each tweet and they all engage in egotistical and boastful exchanges of random thoughts.  They unconsciously think, "Of course you wanna know I'm f*cking hungry and you're interested to know what I ended up eating." Why else would they tweet "I'm so flucking hungry. Think I'm gonna go to 5 guys." My point is, before you complain about the actions of another, recognize that you may behave in a similar fashion. You may be thinking if you acted in such a way, your friends would have corrected you by now but your friends may be the same way. Birds of a feather. <<---let that marinate.

Morning Inspiration

GREAT morning my beauties! Did you miss me yesterday? I missed you. I was so distraught by our separation I was forced to console myself with some retail therapy. Isn't that AWFUL? I know, I know. Ok, I'm kidding but doesn't it make you feel good to feel like someone missed you? Moving on.

Here is today's quote:

If God had wanted me otherwise, He would have created me otherwise.  ~Johann von Goethe
I had a random epiphany yesterday while I was driving listening to Monica. Now granted, it could have been the way she sang "You're everything to me..." but I'm gonna give all the credit to the man all the way upstairs-God. Now for the past few weeks, I have become comfortable going to church alone, praying and reading my bible. I can say this in confidence because there was a time when I didn't do any of these things alone. If I didn't have a friend to accompany me I didn't go to church. I didn't pray on a daily basis and I trusted my parentals to tell me about the bible. I'm not ashamed to admit that. You can judge me all you want but your judgment is not what matters to me. I appreciate you reading though *bats eyelashes*. I'm proud of my growing faith. Do I still have one foot in the "world?" Yes I do. Does this mean I will continue to make mistakes? Heck yes! Now back to my epiphany: You cannot share your blessings with everyone. Sad, huh? Now I admit I may be a little late on this, but I always recognized that I could not share my struggles with everyone. I learned that lesson the hard way. What I never really thought about was how sharing your blessings could affect people who are not as blessed. When I hear about someone being blessed, even when I'm not where I want to be I am genuinely happy for them. I know its hard out here for a pimp. I am happy when my neighbor is blessed because it means my time is coming since God is working in my neighborhood. It reminds me that God is still blessing people and I recharge my faith in him. Everyone does not understand that. Everyone does not embrace that. I realize all of you do not believe in God but I do. I do not apologize if you have a problem with that. I am not saying you should not GUSH about your blessings, you deserve to celebrate your accomplishment. Just saying, be careful.

Random fact about me: One of my fears with sharing is that I am not just sharing with the person Im talking to. My best friends have best friends. My best friends have boyfriends. I accept that sharing with my friends in serious relationships also means I am sharing with their spouse and I am ok with that. What I am not ok with is when people share things to folks outside of the circle of trust. For all of you visual learners, here is the circle *draws circle* and here is the person who inadvertently knows my business is on the outside of said circle *points outside of circle*.  How does this fit in with the rest of the post? It doesn't, but I wanted to share it anyway.

Share to your heart's desire but do not be disappointed when everyone doesn't throw confetti your way. Everyone will NOT be happy for you when you secure a job in this recession. Everyone will NOT be happy that your household has two incomes. Everyone will NOT be happy that you are not burdened with children and you have the resources to travel as you please. I know the title of this post is "morning inspiration" but I would be remiss if I didn't also give you a dose of reality. I hope I didn't stir up any trouble.

Morning Inspiration

GREAT morning beautiful people!! Happy Hump Day! Congratulations! Why? Because you have made it to the mid-point of the week. Ok that was a little lame but you get the point. Don't cap like you haven't hit any rough patches this week. The days you thought would never end are behind you and its time to conquer a new day. Oh that wasn't what you were thinking? Well good for you! Check out today's quote:

"Pain is your friend; it is your ally. Pain reminds you to finish the job and get the hell home. Pain tells you when you have been seriously wounded. And you know what the best thing about pain is? It tells you you're not dead yet!" -Master Chief John Urgayle (From the movie G.I. Jane)

As my folks in the military would say, PAIN is weakness leaving your body. I agree because you experience pain when you push yourself to your limits. Pain is a sign of progress. No pain, no gain right? The more you push yourself the more you will feel pain. For example, I jog about 3 times a week. Each morning I teeter on whether I should go farther than my normal route. I teeter because I have to decide whether I want to feel the pain that comes from pushing myself a little farther or if I will be satisfied with completing my normal distance. On the days when I follow my normal route, I feel zero pain. On the days I decide to push myself the extra mile, I can feel the difference. But guess what else? After I have pushed myself to go the extra mile my normal route becomes easier to conquer. My point is once you have pushed yourself beyond the point you thought you could not go you become a stronger person than you were before. You will find it easier to complete more basic tasks and the more you push yourself the more confident you will become. Before long, you will start to feel invincible and adventurous. Embrace that journey!

I realize we have all gone through our own trials but I think its a universal truth that through those trials you realized how strong you really are. There may have been nights where you cried and that is ok. I believe it was the prophet Lyfe Jennings who said, "crying is like taking your soul to the laundrymat." What I hope all of you know is that you are worthy of being happy. I don't mean Facebook happy where all you post is positive status updates. I don't mean walking around merely thinking you deserve to be happy, I mean I want you all to be genuinely filled with joy so much that your happiness adds an unmistakable glow to your skin.

Some of us (myself included) have been fighting doing what we know we should do because of fear. We fight taking the leap of faith because we are control freaks who like to know the outcome in advance. Do not be afraid of doing something because you have never done it before. You deserve to see your dreams come true. If you have been off of the beaten path lately, find your way back. Consider this an urgent message for all of you to get more serious. Lets be honest, you aren't getting any younger. People say its never too late to follow your dreams, but why wait? Why allow anything to get in your way? I would like to hear your justification for not following your dreams. I understand you have bills, hell I have bills too but thats not stopping me from finding time for my passion. Eventually, I plan on turning my passion into a business but until that time I don't skip a day where I'm researching, writing and learning new things. My leap of faith is coming soon, I hope yours is too.

I love ya like a fat kid loves cake.
