Morning Inspiration

Today's quote is more like a series of quotables from my favorite Disney movie, The Lion King.
Adult Simba: I know what I have to do. But going back will mean facing my past. I've been running from it for so long.
[Rafiki hits Simba on the head with his stick]
Adult Simba: Ow! Jeez, what was that for?
Rafiki: It doesn't matter. It's in the past.
[laughs]
Adult Simba: Yeah, but it still hurts.
Rafiki: Oh yes, the past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it, or... learn from it.
[swings his stick at Simba again who ducks out of the way]
Rafiki: Ha. You See? So what are you going to do?
Adult Simba: First, I'm gonna take your stick.
[Simba snatches Rafiki's stick and throws it and Rafiki runs to grab it]
Rafiki: No, not the stick! Hey, where you going?
Adult Simba: I'm going back!
Rafiki: Good! Go on! Get out of here!

Sometimes running from your past is easier to do than going back and facing the pain. As Rafiki said, you can either RUN from it or LEARN from it. Simba spent so much time running from his past that he forgot who he was. How is that possible? He was BORN a king! From the moment he was born he was taught how to live and behave like a KING. His father's servants treated him like a future king and everyone in Pride rock KNEW Simba was the heir to the Pride Rock throne. The same goes for you. You are born with a destiny and a purpose. It is up to you to live up to it!

When you've fallen off of the beaten path, you will need to be reminded of our destiny. Seek out the people or materials that will allow you remember who you are. If you really are on the path to greatness you will experience disappointment. Yes, even YOU! You may sometimes question why things happen to you. You're busy asking WHY ME? Well why NOT you?! What purpose would it serve to allow you to climb the ladder of success if you're not allowed to experience what its like to be at the bottom? Oh I get it, you want an EASY ride dontcha? You don't want to experience any bumps or hurdles. How else will you learn how to be UP without being uppity? How else will you learn how to be DOWN without being downtrodden?? Set backs build character.

Too many wise men have said it is a good measure of a man to observe how he acts in times of adversity for it to not be true. Everyone doesn't tell the same lie. Its easy to be happy and cheerful when your bank account has commas, your bills are paid, your relationship is going well and everything at work is going well. Pay closer attention to the person who is barely making their ends meet, is borrowing from Peter to pay Paul, is on the verge of a breakup and is dealing with new the management at work going around randomly firing people. If the latter person manages to still find a reason to smile give that person a cookie (and some loose change)!

Spread love :-)
