African American Music Appreciation Month 2011

June has quickly become my favorite month of the year because President Obama designated it African American Music Appreciation Month. Check the proclamation here. With that said, for the month of June I will be posting a song by an African American artist every day.  Since African American music is so diverse, sharing it with you all is going to be tons of fun!

First up, rising New Orleans native Dee-1's Jay, 50 and Weezy.

Name: Dee-1 also known as "The One Man Army"
Hometown: New Orleans, Louisiana
Education: Bachelor's Degree from Louisiana State University
Interesting Facts: To help fund his music, Dee-1 works at a Middle School in Baton Rouge and he does not use profanity in his music.

He has been interviewed by AOL, BET, XXL, Thisis50.com, Allhiphop.com and other big names in music. His music represents positive things and he is using his music to get a message to the masses. Check him out in his interview with BET.

In the video below, he takes some time to speak on his upcoming single “Blue” which he’ll be releasing a music video for very soon.

With his determination and hard work, Dee-1 has the potential to become a legendary artist. Talented Generation applauds him for his fresh approach to music and we look forward to watching his career flourish. You can keep tabs on Dee-1 via his official website. You can visit his site here.
