Congressman Weiner takes Leave of Absence

The sound of the world's smallest violin is JUST. SO. MOVING.

Is it just me or is any headline with his last name worthy of a little chuckle? Just me? Ok. 


In a not-so-shocking PR move, Rep. Anthony Weiner has announced his decision to step away from his office to "seek professional treatment to focus on becoming a better husband and healthier person." Weiner's rep released a statement saying,  "[Congressman Weiner] will request a short leave of absence from the House of Representatives so that he can get evaluated and map out a course of treatment to make himself well."


Just curious, what is the treatment plan for twitpic'N photos of your Oscar Meyer? Too soon? 


Anyway, the statement continues with 

"Congressman Weiner takes the views of his colleagues very seriously and has determined that he needs this time to get healthy and make the best decision possible for himself, his family and his constituents."

Don't be surprised if post-treatment Weiner has an epiphany and gives in to Pelosi's demands for him to resign.  Story still developing...meanwhile, the World's Smallest Violin continues to play for Weiner.
